TRANSFER STATION MANAGER
This is a Full Time exempt salaried position with benefits.
Pay commensurate with qualifications and experience
(Salary range $42,000 to $48,000 per year)
The Town of Littleton seeks a qualified Transfer Station Manager to supervise, organize and coordinate the daily operations of the Littleton Transfer Station and Solid Waste Department with assigned staff. Manager assures facility activities are in compliance with all laws, Littleton town policies and goals, NHDES/EPA rules/regulations; demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, streamline work processes, work cooperatively with other town departments and provide quality customer service.
Manager will implement the safe, efficient operations of the integrated waste management facility including budget preparation, purchasing, marketing recyclables, public education, operating machinery/heavy equipment and maintenance of the buildings and grounds. Contracting for services, equipment maintenance, liaison to residential, industrial, and commercial waste generators in town, staff performance evaluations, and computer proficiency are important job tasks. Must be able to prepare all necessary reports regarding the solid waste facility, supervise up to 5-7 individuals/volunteers, work with union employees and communicate effectively with the public.
Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position per the job description (able to lift and carry up to 50 Lbs.). H. S. diploma or equivalent. Possession of a valid NH driver’s license, CDL preferred. Certified as a Level IV Solid Waste Operator with the NH DES Waste Management Division and 4 yrs. experience in the Solid Waste field. Or have the ability to acquire the Level IV certification within 6 months of the date of hire.
The work will require attendance at some evening/weekend meetings, responding to emergencies and assisting the highway crew with unscheduled weather related events.
The successful candidate will be required to have a background check, fingerprinting, a physical and federal DOT testing.

Assistant Solid Waste Manager
Town of Swanzey
The Town of Swanzey, NH is accepting applications for the position for Assistant Solid Waste Manager. This full time position works at the Town’s Recycling Center/Transfer Station assisting and participating in the management of the facility as well as its operations processing recyclables and accepting other solid waste. Desired skills and experience include knowledge of municipal solid waste and recycling management issues, good mechanical aptitude and “trouble shooting” skills, experience operating mechanical / motorized equipment used in solid waste operations. Solid waste experience may be waived for the ideal candidate. Must be able to perform physical tasks including lifting, turning, reaching, squatting, and possess excellent verbal and auditory skills, good communicative and inter-personal skills with employees and the public, and prior experience utilizing computers and Microsoft applications a plus. Solid Waste Supervisor
Town of Milton
The Milton Public Works Department is accepting applications for the full-time position of Solid Waste Supervisor at the Solid Waste Facility located at 803 White Mountain Highway, Milton, NH.This position requires a person of good character, integrity, patience, adaptability, enthusiasm, and a sense of humor.
Duties: Perform a variety of work operations at the Solid Waste Facility. Supervise a part-time staff of two. Create work schedules for staff. Operate loading and recycling equipment. Monitor access to facility. Constantly conduct visual inspections of drop-offs to ensure compliance with Facility rules and to prevent disposal of prohibited materials. Assist the public by explaining policies and procedures to facility users ensuring proper use of facility areas. Maintain cleanliness and neatness of the facility. Constantly monitor for safety. Assess and collect fees previously established. Sort debris. Perform routine and preventative maintenance of facility equipment. Make proposals of amendments to current policies, procedures, forms, and make proposals of new procedures, policies, etc. Monitor refuse, and prepare reports on tracking of refuse. Additional duties listed on the job description.
Certifications, Requirements, Experience, and Abilities: Solid Waste Level 3 License. CDL-B. Supervisory experience. Experience with hand tools, light equipment, heavy equipment. Physical requirements listed on the job description. Familiarity with MSDS paperwork. Any combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
This position answers to the Public Works Director. Starting hourly wage is $16.35. Must pass all background checks and tests required by the Town and State. Full benefit package. 6 month probation.
