ABOUT THE NRRA
|
In 1981,
four New Hampshire municipalities founded the Northeast Resource
Recovery Association, then called the New Hampshire Resource
Recovery Association, to provide a clearinghouse for current, up to
date information and a source of technical and marketing assistance
in the general areas of waste reduction and recycling.
|
Since then, membership in the NRRA has grown to include
over 300 municipalities, individuals, and businesses in New Hampshire,
Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Southern Maine. The NRRA
is a member driven organization whose programs are designed and overseen
by the members they serve.
|
The NRRA
provides cooperative purchasing programs, educational and networking
opportunities, technical assistance, and cooperative marketing programs
that have received national recognition for establishing innovative
grassroots recyclables marketing cooperatives with competitive pricing
which enables small, rural and large urban communities to manage their
own recycling programs!

NRRA's Office
If you had visited the old NRRA offices, you may have noticed how
crowded it was. Not only for staff, but many NRRA members wanted monthly
Marketing Committee Meetings at the NRRA offices, yet there just wasn’t enough
space. Parking was always an issue and with the NRRA continuing to grow;
it was evident that it was time for a change.
In the Fall of 2005, a NRRA Trustee Building Committee began looking at alternatives.
After months of work, a financially sound solution presented itself – an
office building in Epsom, NH. Upon a unanimous recommendation of the Building
Committee and a unanimous vote of the Trustees, the building was purchased!
The NRRA offices are wonderful – office space for all staff, a conference
room to accommodate meetings, plenty of parking and a new benefit – an office
for our members. If you are in the area or between meetings and need a place
to stop, use the phone or computer, have a small meeting, or if you just
want to stop in and say hello, we welcome you! There is an office designated
for members who have an occasional need for it.
The NRRA office building is very large but that is one of the reasons
we were able to purchase it – rental income from the second floor will help
pay our mortgage. We hope that if you are in the area you will stop by;
it is always fun to provide tours to our members!
